Indian Railways is not behind in keeping up with the technological advances. A new application has been developed which makes it easier for the commuters to book their paperless unreserved tickets as well as platform tickets beforehand to cut the queues and to save time. The facility is targeted at the 75 lakh passengers of the Mumbai suburban sections who use local trains to commute between places daily.Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu said that they are in tune with the Prime Minister’s “Digital India” campaign.
The paperless platform ticket program would cover major sections in Mumbai suburban sections as well as New Delhi station and Hazrat Nizamuddin station here.Prabhu also launched the paperless season tickets at suburban stations of Western, Central and New Delhi and Palwal section of the Northern Railways. Most of these initiatives were mentioned in railway minister’s budget speech this year.He also said that a campaign will be run to reduce the occurrence of ticketless travelling which has increased manifolds over the year. The app is available in both iOS and android format.
