Law Students of Jamia organises a Free Legal Aid Camp in University vicinity

The South-East District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with ‘Khudai Khidmatgar ‘organised a ‘Legal Services Camp’ at Sabka Ghar, Friends Apartment, Gali No. 1, Ghaffar Manzil, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi – 110025 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, on March 05, 2017. In this  event around 20 Para Legal Volunteers of the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia participated as volunteers.

On the eve of the event, i.e. On the evening of March 04, 2017, the PLVs carried out ‘Door to Door’ Campaign in the various JJ colonies around Noor Nagar, Ghaffar Manzil and Haji Colony. ( Photographs of the same are attached herewith )

The main aim of the camp was to provide free Legal Aid to the economically weaker sections of the society who are neither aware nor have access to legal help with regard to their problems. Number of people visited the camp for seeking help. Their problems were related to family disputes, service matters, labour laws, land disputes and other civil and criminal matters.

Two legal aid lawyers, namely, Advocate Mr. S. Dutt and Advocate Sandeep Mishra from the South East District Legal Services Authority were deputed by the Authority for helping and providing legal aid to the poor people who visited the camp. They, very patiently listened to the problems of the people and provided legal solutions.

The PLVs also assisted the lawyers in resolving and providing solutions to the legal problems. They were further guided by Prof. Kahkashan Y. Danyal (Statutory Member of DSLSA), Dr. Asad Malik, Dr. Ghulam Yazdani and the Dean, Prof. N.P. Khan.

The camp went on the successfully till 4:00 p.m, the only time they took a break was for lunch from 1:30p.m-2:30p.m.
