Yesterday in Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) cricket team of Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association Riyadh finished the tournament with the second runner up by defeating Royal Academy of Cricket(RAC). The match was played at RCL ground 3.Royal Academy of Cricket(RAC) won the toss and elected to bat first.
RAC did not start well as the openers failed to give a good opening partnership for the team and first wicket fell in the 3rd over on score of 18 runs. Playing cautiously and with rare aggression, RAC managed to score 122 runs in their innings.JMIAA bowlers and fielders done well for their team. Fast bowler Javed Alam was pumped up and bowled with a lot of speed and bounce RAC batsmen could not negotiate with him. Javed took two wickets in the match while Tauqeer, Mustafa and Nisar bowled medium fast deliveries, Aftab, Shakeel and Mushtaq handled the spin department. Tauqeer took one wicket off a beauty of a delivery that swung in after pitching and took the bells off. Later Shakeel and Mushtaq spun mysterious web of slow bowling around the batsmen.
JMIAA chased down the target of 123 in just 5.5 overs without loss while chasing a target of 123 runs JMIAA openers Mushtaq and Shakeel who dominated the RAC bowlers. Both the openers hammered the bowlers brutally with fours and huge sixes.This was a record of fastest 100 in the tournament.JMIAA opener Mushtaq was in supreme form and played with full control and aggression. He made 65 not out off just 23 deliveries that included 10 class studded fours and 2 huge sixes. The other opener Shakeel, coming back into form in this match also played aggressively and remained unbeaten on 42 off 12 deliveries with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.
