VIPS organised its First annual international film festival

After three days of extravagant journey started on September 18, Cinephile, the first annual international film festival of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies ,New Delhi comes  to end yesterday. On its final day, the festival announced the winners in each category that were selected by the jury after evaluating each film critically.

For the short film category, the winner was an independent filmmaker Mr. Madonne M. Ashwin for his film ‘Dharmam’. In the fiction film category, an international entry ‘Love at first sight’ by Mark Playne won the first spot and for the documentary category a student film ‘Leukemia, not Just a Disease’ by Antrik Anwesan won the first prize. These were the films that were admired by the audiences present in the festival as well.Wildlife filmmaker, Mr. Vijay Bedi, who was present at the film festival said, “Being the Jury member, it was very difficult for me to choose the best film. However, we chose the films which portrayed some out of the box ideas.”

On the final day, cineastes were treated with the remaining 18 films out of 75 films that the festival received from across the globe. Post screening, the cinephiles were entertained with a cultural program by students and were felicitated with certificates for their hard work. The winning films by the jury were given the cash prizes of more of Rs 70,000 under different categories, in the valedictory ceremony.

Going back the memory lane, the festival witnessed the presence of many eminent personalities of the Indian Cine Industry, trend setter director and actor, Shri Tigmanshu Dhulia; Founder President, Delhi International Film Festival, Shri Ram Kishore Parcha; President, The Social Circle; Shrimati Sushma Parcha and Professor Satish Chitravanshi, a noted film critic to name a few.

The master classes conducted by ace film makers Shri R V Ramani and Shri Pawan Kumar were attended by more than 60 students from universities across Delhi. Their films ‘A Documentary Proposal’ and ‘Lucia’ respectively were screened post their classes which captivated the attendees at the Master Class.

A Special lecture by National Award Winner ace director, scriptwriter and actor of the Indian film industry, Mr.Tigmanshu Dhulia was the most awaited feature of the festival. Mr. Dhulia’s unconventional ideas, liberal thoughts and optimistic outlook motivated each Cinephile present.The session was attended and appreciated by many noted and uprising film makers.

In the three days (18-20 September, 2014) Cinephile showcased thought provoking, emotion stirring and technically brilliant films from Indian and abroad (Belgium, Spain and UK). The cultural program gave an aesthetic end to the festival.
