Movies have always been a big passion for India, and we Indians have a big flare for our films, we get connected to the film.

Each year there comes several movies, and usually, the ones with good marketing and commercialization get successful whether or not they have the quality to offer.

Well, that’s not always the case, now and then there comes a gem of a movie that has everything good about it and can make your time worth watching, its these quality hidden gems that keep the spirit of actual filmmaking alive.

1) AnkhonDekhi (2014)

“AnkhonDekhi” is a realistic drama starring Sanjay Mishra and Rajat Kapoor, and Rajat Kapoor directs the movie itself.

This is an astonishing tale of someone who has an epiphany and makes a vow only to believe what he sees through his own eyes.

Sanjay Mishra delivers genuinely flawless performance and takes us on a journey of self-realization.

It is one of the best movies ever given to us by Bollywood.

2) Chittagong (2012)

“Chittagong” is a historical war drama based upon the Chittagong’s Uprising during British India.

It is a directional gem by Bedabrata Pain which won Nation Film Award for a Best Debut film.

The film had a powerpack cast with – Manoj Bajpai, Rajkumar Rao, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

3) Gulaal (2009)

An Indian political drama film by none other than Anurag Kashyap whose seven years of rigorous hard work shows off in making this a masterpiece in Indian cinema.

Dialogues, script, music, direction all were mixed in the perfect amount to deliver this masterpiece.

4) Shaurya (2008)

The films revolve around the court-martial of a Muslim officer set in the backdrop of Kashmir conflict.

5) Massan (2015)

Massan is a 2015 Drama film directed by Neeraj Ghaywan; the film follows two different stories that eventually converge later.

Richa Chada and Vicky Kaushal who are in the lead in this film give an impeccable performance making their character forever alive on the screen.

The film was highly appreciated and received awards at the Cannes Film festival.

The film is successful in capturing the essence of Benaras, the poetry, the magic, the romance, and even the pain.
