Students of DU, Jamia and 6 other universities to get Free Wi-Fi from Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio is back with another marvellous offer for the student community. It aims to provide them with the free access to Wi-Fi, free internet connection and educational resources such as online courses.

The free Wi-Fi service will be given to the students of:

  1. South Bihar Central University
  2. Central University, Himachal Pradesh
  3. Jamia Millia Islamia University
  4. Aligarh Muslim University
  5. Banaras Hindu University
  6. Delhi University

Reliance Jio has sent a proposal to HRD ministry, last month to connect approximately 38,000 colleges for the free Wi-Fi scheme. To make sure a just and transparent process, a tender would be floated. Meanwhile, the proposal of the HRD ministry for providing free Wi-Fi in central universities itself is believed to go off this year.

Currently, the proposal in under examination by the ministry and the verdict is yet to be taken.

It is not a surprisingly new thing for us to witness the remarkable offers given out by Reliance Jio. It has recently launched a Jio phone which will be up for beta testing starting off from August 15, 2017. Declared by the Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, it’s a phone available for free but the user will have to make an upfront payment of Rs. 1500, which is refundable after three years.Jio has also crossed 100 million customers mark in just 170 days after its launch in 2016.
