Students asked to vacate hostels at AMU

With the commencement of the summer vacation in Aligarh Muslim University, students residing in various Halls of residence, including boys and girls, have been asked to vacate their rooms and hostels with bag and baggage to facilitate fresh allotments on their return in new academic session starting from August 3, 2015.

According to a notification issued by the Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof. Anis Ismail, the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has directed all the Provosts of the Halls of residence to ensure that the Dining Hall services in each Hall are stopped from June 1 to August 2, 2015 during summer vacations.

The notification made it clear that the hostels will be vacated from 15th June and the students will leave with bag and baggage soon after their examinations are over, as per past practice. The notification further read that “no student shall be allowed to stay in the Hall during summer vacations, except Ph.D. scholars, interns and students of JN Medical College and AK Tibbiya College till the end of their classes”.

The University has, however, decided to provide accommodation to PhD scholars willing to stay during the summer vacation on “mandatory” recommendation of their supervisors, chairmen or Deans with appropriate justification for their stay. Such students will be accommodated at R.M. Hall for boys and S.N. Hall for girls, which have been marked as the “Summer Hostels” and they will have to shift to these Halls by July 16, 2015.

The Provosts of Halls of residence have been advised to provide safe cloak room facility to all students who are unable to carry their baggage with them.
