Revolutionary Reform: JEE Mains and NEET exam will be conducted twice a year starting off with December,2018.

The Indian Government is working on a revolutionary reform that will benefit medical and engineering students across the country. It is planning to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (mains) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) twice a year.

The results for the exam conducted for the session of 2018-19 are announced. However, there is a possibility of the exams being conducted again in the month of December.

All entrance exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It will conduct a test for the 2019 session in the month of December, 2018.

The planning for the same started last year when Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Upendra Kushwaha informed the Lok Sabha about the exams being conducted twice a year.

“The exams will be conducted online at least twice a year, thereby giving an adequate opportunity to the candidates to bring out their best,” said the HRD Minister.

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi approved the NTA in November,2017. Currently, CBSE conducts both JEE (MAINS) and NEET. Now, NTA has been given the power to work as an autonomous body and conduct all the entrance tests.

Last year in December, IIT Kanpur was given the authority to set up organisation for conducting the JEE test. The upcoming exam in December,2018 will be conducted under its supervision.

“IIT Kanpur has already been assigned the task of setting up the agency and they have started with forming a team of subject experts in various fields and technical experts to design the question papers. The agency will be able to conduct the first examination in December next year,” mentioned a senior officer in November,2017.

To ensure that the tests are conducted smoothly and without any interruption, experts and professionals from private sector will also be working with the agency in coordination.
