Prince, the son of a bus driver, wins the battle by scoring 97% in CBSE class 12th by defeating TB

Prince, the son of a bus driver with Delhi Transport Corporation has topped in Delhi Government Schools by scoring 97% in CBSE class 12 exam. He scored 100 per cent in Maths and 99 per cent in Economics.

Prince was diagnosed with stage 1 tuberculosis in july last year.

“Everybody in my family broke down when I was diagnosed with TB but my father consoled me. I used to have fever all day and my body became very weak. I had trouble studying but my parents supported me constantly,” said Prince, reports NDTV.

Prince is inspired by his late grandfather who was in navy as an engineer. He wants to join the armed forces but he fears the medical test. He may not be able to clear the tough medical test because of his TB history. But, not to worry. He has the backup ready. He already cleared the entrance exam for IIT and is waiting for the results of second round exam.

Prince’s father is very grateful to Delhi Government for charging Rs.20 as school fee. He earns Rs.26000 monthly and looks after a family of four.

“We had to stay awake with him. Since he was unwell, after coming back from work I would enquire about his health, take him to the doctor. It took a lot of effort but I am glad it worked out well in the end. I am very proud of him,” said his father.

This year, the result of Delhi Government school has been the best when compared to last 20 years. Private schools lag behind with a pass percentage of 88.35. Government school are leading with 90.64 pass percentage.

“We introduced special classes even in vacations and arranged one-on-one interactions with teachers and that is why the results have been so good. 168 government schools have scored a  pass percentage of 100. This has been a combined effort of parents and teachers”, said Education Minister Manish Sisodia, reports NDTV.
