Online Application Process for Gate 2019 to be End On Sept 21; Check Details

The application process for the GATE 2019 is going to end soon. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, which is the conducting body of GATE 2019, has announced 21st of September, 2018 as the usual closing date for application for GATE 2019.

GATE 2019 Application Form is available on the official website. Since very less time is left to register for GATE 2019, the official portal for GATE 2019, has seen a huge surge in visitors in past 2 days. IIT Madras has even mentioned this fact on the official portal of GATE 2019 and thus has given some additional guidelines to candidates regarding registration in these days.

Therefore, all the candidates are advised to register as soon as possible, if they want to appear for the exam. But if they are unable to do so, there is an extended period given in which the registration can be done, but it comes with some terms and conditions. What is the extended period of application for GATE 2019?

Although the first deadline to apply to GATE 2019 is 21st September 2018, but the final date for this is 1st October 2018. Yes, IIT Madras is giving an additional time period to apply for GATE 2019, if someone misses out the original deadline.

This extended period will be of 10 days, i.e. 22nd September to 1st October. So the candidates still have a chance to apply for the exam. But it must not be forgotten that no registrations will be entertained after 1st of October. So whether to apply or not, the decision has to be made in these 10 days only.

GATE 2019 extended application dates: do they cost something extra?

The answer is, Yes. Candidates who register in the extended period of applications, i.e. from 22nd September to 1st October 2018, will have to pay INR 500 extra, as compared to candidates who register in the normal window.

The application fee for GATE 2019 for SC, ST, PWD and Female candidates is INR 750. The fee, for all other candidates, is INR 1500. This is the fee being charged in the normal window of the application.

In the extended window, candidates from SC, ST, PWD and Female categories will need to pay INR 1250 to register. All other candidates will need to pay INR 2000.

The above fee was for those who want to appear for GATE 2019 in India. Well, IIT Madras also gives you the option to appear for GATE 2019 from outside India. Candidates, who want to appear for the exam in Dubai or Singapore, need to pay $100 as the fee. While those looking to appear in Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu need to pay $50.

But in the extended period, fees for such candidates will rise too. To appear for the exam in Dubai or Singapore, the fees charged will go up to $120. While for other 4 centers, it will increase to $70.

GATE 2019: What are some other important dates that need to be remembered?

Apart from the 1st of October, which is the last date to register for GATE 2019, candidates need to remember some other important dates too. One of these is 16th November 2018, which is the last date to request a change in the examination center. Candidates must remember that some additional fee will be charged for this request.

Further, the admit cards for GATE 2019 will be available on 4th January 2019. The exam is to be held on dates 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th of February, 2019. The final results will be announced on 16th March 2019.
