More than 15, 000 students admitted to Delhi University after first cutoff

More than 15,000 students admitted to the University of Delhi after the first cut-off list, almost seven times more than last year’s number. The last day for the process of admission for the first cut-offs finished on 21st June, Thursday. According to University official, 15,245 seats were filled out of 56,000 seats which was a record-breaking stat. However, only 2,200 seats were filled after the first cut-off in 2017.

According to the data shared by university, the top five colleges which created the record of most admissions were Hindu College with 950 filled seats, followed by Ramjas College with 926 seats, Gargi College with 776 seats, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College and Shaheed Bhagat Singh with 632 filled seats in both the colleges.

Similarly, the trending courses were BA (Program) where 1,929 seats were filled, followed by B.Com (Honors), where 1,606 seats were filled and BA (Honors) Political Science being the third popular course with 1,260 seats. BA (Honors) History with 1,075 and B.Com with 1,068 remained in the other trending courses of the university.

A technical error was observed on the very first day of the admissions as DigiLocker, a government owned public cloud storage for storing certificates and documents, was not integrated with the university’s portal. The second and third day of the admission process was bug-free and smooth as said by officials.

The second cut-off is expected to be released on Sunday and the officials are expecting a huge gallop at that time. Moreover, the university threw open its admission portal for aspirants of various undergraduate courses on 15th May. The registration for these courses ended on 7th June.
