Men in Blue vs the Bangla Tigers

With the lone test match between India and Bangladesh having ended up in a draw due to unexpected rains, both the teams would now be eyeing the One Day International series starting from 18 June, 2015. All the three matches in the series will be played at the Shere-bangla-stadium at Mirpur in Bangladesh.

Last year Suresh Raina led the Indian side to victory with a clean sweep of 3-0 without giving a single chance to the Bangladeshis. But this year the Bangladesh team is riding high on confidence with its series victory over Pakistan, and its tremendous run in the World Cup this year has shattered their image of being an associate nation. The men in blue, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, are always a team to beat in the subcontinent conditions especially when the opposition is not a formidable one. Talking about the line up, India is going with the same team that was tried and tested in the World Cup. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, the two best openers of the recent times, would open the innings. In the middle order, Virat Kholi, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu are the ones who can up the ante at any time they want. Raina and Dhoni will continue to maintain the reputation of the best finishers in the World Cup. The all rounder expertise of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will come handy for Indian team making batting a formidable force for the team. In the bowling department, Umesh Yadav will lead the pace attack in tandem with Bhuveshwar Kumar who is no mug with the bat also. Mohit Sharma is turning out to be the most economical bowler for the Indian team. So, all and all, the Indian team is perfectly balanced but the bowlers have to be on the spot in the death as they leak a lot of runs in the death overs which is a continuing worry for the Indian side. On the other side the Bangladesh team led by the aggressive captain Mashrafe Mortaza is all set to upset the campaign of the Indian team with the new side which is riding high on confidence with their recent performances. With a mix of debutants like Litton Das (wicketkeeper batsman), Saumya Sarkar and Mustafizur Rahman, and seniors like Shakib-al-Hasan, Mushifiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal, the batting is looking very solid. Bowling is no less with Rubel Hosaain and Taskin Ahmed whose pace attack is truly impressive. The spin department is well facilitated by Shakib’s spin. Therefore, this one day series would be truly a watch as both the teams would want to continue their winning streak and India won’t commit the mistake of taking Bangladesh lightly as the memories of the 2007 world cup loss against Bangladesh is still afresh in the mind of every Indian. This series would truly turn out to be a nail biting one!
