Medical College of the AMU bids farewell to 2011-batch in ‘College Day’

Aligarh, October 3:
The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of the Aligarh Muslim University organized its ‘College Day’ Function and Farewell to the MBBS-2011 Batch.Addressing the function, Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) said that the medical college students are the best students of this university.He urged the young doctors to follow medical ethics and serve the patients without any stress and strain.Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali, Pro Vice Chancellor, AMU said that the medical profession is a very noble profession to serve the humanity. He urged the medical students to crack the Civil Services Examinations.While, welcoming the guests, Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal of the J N Medical College paid a tribute to Sir Zaiuddin Ahmad, Dr Zakir Hussain, Prof Hadi Hasan and Col. Bashir Hussain Zaidi for their contribution in starting this college.He said that the alumni of this institution have spread far and wide to all parts of the world and we have to maintain the cosmopolitan, liberal and diverse character of AMU as was the vision of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.

Prof Tariq Mansoor said that the J N Medical College and Hospital is providing affordable and cheapest treatment to the deprived section of the society. He pointed out that in the past one-year, more six lakh patients were registered in the OPD and fifty-five thousand out of these patients were later admitted to different wards.He said that this institution has the best of advanced equipments to provide better patient care and training and efforts are made to improve work culture and discipline among the employees.

On the occasion, Prof Jamal Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said that the J N Medical College has twenty-five departments of studies and three centres. He urged the young doctors to submit five or six projects to different training agencies to upgrade the facilities.

AMU Vice Chancellor later presented mementos to the 2011-batch students.A cultural event was also organized in which Prof L M Bariar, Prof Tabassum Shahab, Dr Tabassum Nawab, Prof Humayun Ashraf and Dr A Tasneem Ashraf presented their songs and ghazals.Dr Meher Aziz conducted the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
