Kerala CM lays the foundation stone of academic buildings at AMU-Malappuram centre

Addressing at the foundation stone laying ceremony at the 343 acres of land in Chelamala, near Perinthalmanna town in Malappuram district of Kerala, the Chief Minister said that the state government will give all support to complete the development works at this Centre in time. He also urged the University to take steps to start the proposed school at the Centre as early as possible. Presently, this centre is offering BALLB, MBA and B.Ed. programmes.

Three six-storey buildings will be constructed as part of the first phase development work initiated by the University with an estimated cost of about Rs. 95 Crore.

AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah expressed his pleasure over the functioning of the AMU Malappuram Centre. He assured that the hopes and expectations of the people of Kerala will be fulfilled. He hoped that the construction of academic block would be completed within a year and new courses would be started from next academic session.

On this occasion, P.K. Abdul Rab, Education Minister of Kerala, inaugurated the WiFi facility in the campus. Urban Affairs Minister, Manjalam Kuzhi Ali inaugurated the Biodiversity Conversion Project.

Former Union State Minister, Mr. E. Ahamed, MP from Malappuram, inaugurated Telepresence Project and hoped that the Malappuram Centre will be a shining star for the Aligarh Muslim University. He urged the Vice Chancellor to develop at and introduce more courses for the educational development of the region.

Mr. Amen Ahmad Babu, former AMU Court member said that he, as a proud Aligarian, will make all efforts for the development of the centre.

Director of the Centre, Dr. H. Abdul Azees presented annual report and recounted development works at the centre. He said that the construction work of academic block will be completed first and a sum of Rs. 28 crores has already been released for this purpose.

Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, Former AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pervez Talib, Deputy Coordinator of AMU Centres and Prof. Anwar Khurshid, University Engineer also graced the foundation stone laying ceremony.

The programme was attended by a large number of alumni, students and common people of the area.
