Jamia to organize International Consultative Workshop

Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi:

The Department of Social Work (UGC-Centre for Advanced Study), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in collaboration with School of Public Health,University of Minnesota (Twin Cities Campus), Minneapolis, Minnesota,USA, is going to organize an International Consultative Workshop on “Assessing and Prioritizing Needs for the Occupational Health
Infrastructure”.

The proposed workshop is a novel combination of mathematical systems modeling based on extensive, spatially-resolved Governmental data,engagement of a broad cross-section of stakeholders and policy-makers in the project, and elicitation of expert opinions in a probabilistic framework. The proposed multi-pathway work with a trans-disciplinary research team and a working group composed of scholars and policy makers will impact public policy and inform scholarly studies in public health. The results of this work will be shared with the key stakeholders, but especially with policy makers in Government.

The aims of the workshop are to bring various stakeholders into a colloquium to debate and discuss policy issues and innovative practices associated with the workshop. The stakeholders include Government officials, policy makers, programme administrators, project managers and eminent scholars in the field of public health, healthcare management from the most reputed institutes and research centres of India. The International Consultative Workshop includes experts from reputed institutes including the University of Minnesota,USA, National Health System Resource, Jamia Millia Islamia, Indian Institute of Public Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Centre for Policy Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, Indian Council of Medical Research, Gujarat Institute of Development Research, Sakhsaria Institute of Public Health, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, V.V. Giri National Labour and Consulting and Power finance Grid Corporation of India Ltd., including several other reputed organizations.

The international workshop runs over two days aiming to obtain the response of the invited expert’s feedback on designed tool for the purpose of extracting experts’ opinion on assessing and prioritizing needs for the occupational health infrastructure. The event is sponsored by the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota (Twin Cities Campus), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, under the Global Spotlight Research Project.

Dr. Sigamani P, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia is the Programme Coordinator of the workshop.The two-day workshop is scheduled to be held on July 6-7, 2015 in the Seminar Room, Department of Social Work, JMI.
