Jamia to celebrate its 94th Foundation Day on October 29

Jamia Millia Islamia will celebrate its 94th Foundation Day on October 29. The Foundation Day celebration of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will begin at 10.30 AM in the forecourt of Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium, JMI, where the Chief Guest, Dr. Karan Singh, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) along with Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia shall receive the Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets of Jamia. This will be followed by a Flag Hoisting Ceremony by the Chief Guest, Dr. Karan Singh, and also a Foundation Day Function at Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium which is traditionally organized by the Jamia Middle School. Apart from other programmes, the Chief Guest and the Vice-Chancellor will address the audience as well.

On this occasion, Dr. Karan Singh will also inaugurate ‘Talimi Mela’ in the lawns of Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium, JMI, at 12 noon.This year Foundation Day has gained its significance due to Talimi Mela or steps taken by new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Talat Ahmad, who was appointed recently. There is huge excitement among Jamia students regarding Talimi mela which is going to be organized after a long gap of six years.

When we asked Faizan, a second year student, about this, he told us, “all students of university are excited about Foundation Day and it will be a proud moment experiencing our University getting older and most students are excited about the Talimi Mela which has lost its significance during former Vice-Chancellor, Najeeb Jung, and students are welcoming VC’s decision.”
