Jamia students to access free Wi-Fi on the campus

Jamia Millia Islamia is in process of providing free Wi-Fi facility to its students and scholars. An initiative to make Jamia’s Central Library Wi-Fi-enabled was undertaken by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia on the occasion of inauguration of Digital Resource Centre (DRC) at Dr. Zakir Husain Library in July, 2014.

Dr. Zakir Husain Library (Central Library), Jamia Millia Islamia now offers Wi-Fi service in and around the Central Library Block. The bonafide students and scholars are now enabled to access the internet, 7000+ e-journals and in-house digitized Library’s resources, browse 35+ online databases, download and upload files, send and receive e-mail etc. through their portable devices like laptops, tablets and smartphones, etc.

The service is free of charge and easy to use, said Dr. Ghayas Makhdumi, University Librarian, Jamia Millia Islamia. The effort would augment the usage of digital resources and boost research output of Jamia.

The Library also provides remote log-in facility for bonafide members so that e-journals and other e-resources can be accessed off-campus any time.
