Jamia convocation in January, PM Modi not to be the Chief Guest

An earlier buzz that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will be the guest of honour at the annual convocation-2015 of Jamia Millia Islamia university stands contradicted as the final decision regarding the date and guests of the event was taken. The students of the university had expressed their displeasure at the proposal and refused to accept their degrees/diplomas from the PM, who they said had passed negative remarks about the university and its students in the past.

As per reliable sources, the convocation ceremony will be held on 19th January, 2016 in the Bhopal Ground Sports Complex of the university from 4 pm.Professor Goverdhan Mehta, National Research Professor and Lilly Jubilant Chair will reportedly be the Chief Guest. Shri N. N. Vohra, Jammu & Kashmir governer will be conferred Doctor of Letters.Registrations to attend the event will close on 15th January, 2016.
