Former JNU professor is likely to be the new DU V-C

Professor Yogesh Kumar Tyagi,the Dean of Law Faculty at South Asian University and the former professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is likely to be the new Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University and would join the office on February 11, as reported in The Pioneer.

The Pioneer reported ,  “Tyagi stands at the top of the list of the four candidates who were shortlisted for the post of Delhi University’s Vice Chancellor, yet even though the name has been finalised, the official approval from the President is still awaited,” as per a source from the Ministry to The Pioneer.

The appointment of the DU V-C has been vacant for three months now, after former VC Dinesh Singh’s controversial term ended in October 28.Pro-VC Professor Sudhish Pachauri has been heading the office of DU-VC.

Earlier, the search cum selection committee had in a meeting in December shortlisted four names- Professor Nath Kaul Bamezai (School of Life Sciences,JNU), Professor Bidyut Chakraborty (Political Science department, DU), Professor Yogesh Kumar Tyagi, Prof. Hemchand Gupta (former IIT professor and UPSC member).
