For the first time, a Nepali origin contests election in Delhi University’s Law Faculty.

Delhi University:

When the much delayed  Law Faculty’s (DU) election is all set to happen today, this time it has a contestant who has her origin from Nepal. Anu Kushwana ,who did her graduation from Daulat Ram college is a First year student in Delhi university’s law faculty. Contesting for the post of Joint Secretary, she keeps a good background in academics and in the field of social work as well.
anu-kushwanaWhat makes her different is that Anu belongs to a community that has its roots in the neighboring Parsa,a district in Nepal and belongs from a community which is being untouched by the system till 1990 and it was after the Mandal Commission that her community came into limelight.

The driving force behind her determination to stand in this elections happens to be the environment prevailing “the faculty’s environment and the need to have student’s welfare is the main reason behind my participation in the election”.

When asked about her first experience while contesting election Anu says “As I am contesting for the first time, its totally different experience and i am enjoying it ” and added that as a women and as a citizen of another country it was not too difficult for her and never faced problems while filing nomination.
Bhavya Malik and Ruchi Tyagi are the other contestants who are standing for the same.
