Fight for food ends in Jamia: Vice-Chancellor assures students

A huge mass of students met the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia to raise their voice against the canteen monopoly.Dissapointed  with the canteen facilities, students of Jamia Millia Islamia decided to fight for their rights.The sequence of events traces back its origin  a few months ago. After the entry of some anti social elements (who were outsiders) inside the campus it was alleged that the canteen workers had provided a helping hand to them.Also, students were dissatisfied with the quality and quantity of food, the behavior of canteen workers and price hikes. Adding fuel to the fire was recent fender allotment to the same caterers. This instigated the students to march out protest outside the Central canteen on Friday.The officiating Vice-chancellor then had ensured to resolve the issue.

A huge protest was organised by the students in the university today from 11am to 5pm. More than 500 students stood against the low quality of food being served at higher prices by the university canteens.A delegation of More than 200 students met Vice-Chancellor today at 4.45pm and expressed their anger  on the services being provided by the university canteens and also opposed the decision of the administration in the allotment of canteen tenders to the same caterers in spite of innumerable complaint against him.
Vice Chancellor has promised to roll back the new increased prices of the canteens foods and also assured  to take legal action against the irregularities being practiced by the canteen caterers.
