Election campaign in Aligarh Muslim University ends with final speeches

Aligarh, October 6:
Today campaigning for the for Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) Elections ended with the final speeches of the candidates at the University’s Union Hall.The topic of the speech was ‘Role of AMU in the Indian Freedom Movement’.
Dr Mohsin Raza, senior alumnus and AMUSU President in 1966 presided over the proceedings.The polling for AMUSU Elections is scheduled to be held on October 8, 2016.
Presidential candidates Faizul Hasan, Md Rizwan and Mohd Abul Farah delivered their final speeches.Five candidates Mohd Nadeem Ansari, , Farham Ali, Janib Hasan and Mohammad Arafat Hasan Rizvi including one female candidate Kehkashan Khanam are contesting for the post of Vice-President while Mohd Shikoh,Nabeel Usmani,Mohd Emran Ghazi, and Mahfooz Alam, contesting for the position of Hony Secretary.

During their speeches, the candidates assured that they will strive to restore AMU’s Minority Character and will work tirelessly for raising the academic standards of the University.The student leaders contesting elections assured that there will be better facilities in various residential halls in general and girls hostels in particular. They also promised to promote the vision of AMU Founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in social, educational and cultural advancements.
Chief Election Officer, Professor Iqbal Parwez and AMUSU Hony Treasurer, Prof Mohd Nafees Ahmad Ansari and a large number of teachers were present on the occasion.
Dr Shariq Aqueel conducted the speech proceedings.
