Delhi University introduces NOTA option in DU Students’ Union polls

Delhi University   introduced the NOTA (None of the above) option in the Delhi University Students’ union(DUSU) polls which scheduled to be held on September 9. On the direction of the University of Grants Commission (UGC), Delhi University will include NOTA option in its electronic machines (EVMs) for the upcoming DUSU elections.

According to the DUSU Chief Election Commissioner D.S. Rawat with the introduction of this option the students can get a right to reject if they do not find any candidate worthy of the post. This option will give hints to the various probable political parties about the choices and opinions of the major chunk of voters i.e. the youth.

The NOTA option will also increase the competition from mainstream to diverse and worthy opponents. Last year BJP-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) clean swept the by winning all four positions- president, vice president, secretary and joint-secretary.
