AMU withdraws it’s decision after protest ;declares Students’ Union election date

ALIGARH September 24:
In an emergent special meeting of its local members, today, presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, the Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University, on the recommendations of the Committee constituted by it for this purpose, decided to hold the elections to the AMU Students’ Union, Women’s College Students’ Union and for the students’ representation on AMU Court, on October 8, 2016. The process for the elections will begin afresh and notifications will be made accordingly.

The Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has appointed Prof. Iqbal Pervez and Dr. Roohi Abida Ahmad as Chief Election Officers for conducting the elections for AMU Students’ Union and Women’s College Students’ Union respectively.

The Executive Council has made it clear that any violation of AMU Students’ Union (Conduct of Election) Regulations 2010, as amended in 2012, will invite penalty of disqualification.
