AMU Vice Chancellor interacts with young teachers

ALIGARH December 9:

The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah urged the young breed of AMU teachers to make efforts to bring new research projects, which is considered most for the ranking of the University by a ranking survey agency. He was addressing at an interactive meeting with the Assistant Professors who have been appointed in various Departments of study during the last three and half years.

Adding that teaching was a most honorable noble profession, Lt. Gen. Shah called upon the teachers to become a role model for their students as it was a teacher who impacted them most.He said that most of the teachers in AMU were true to their profession and performing their duties well. He said that he had full fiath in teaching community. He, however, urged them to deal with their students sympathetically and teach them with full preparation of the topic. He said there was no age barrier for learning new things and upgrading one’s knowledge was in fact obligatory on the teaching faculties.

Vice Chancellor stressed that teachers could not afford to keep themselves aloof from the benefits of the information technology. He exhorted them to learn the nuances of new gadgets like the smart class room, laptop, tablet and smart phone.Lt. Gen. Shah said that about four hundred teachers had been appointed during his period and all the appointments had been made purely on the basis of merit. He pointed out that many selection committees were in pipe line and the number of newly appointed teachers might reach to about six hundred by the end of his tenure.

He urged the teachers to prepare their students in a manner that at the end of the day, they are fully equipped to face the job market successfully. He stressed the need to link education with career and sought teachers’ cooperation to make the University industry-friendly.Vice Chancellor said that while making appointment of teachers, he envisioned their role in the enrichment of academic and research profile of the University for the next 30-35 years.Lt. Gen. Shah said that people’s perception about AMU was changing and if concerted efforts are made, it would soon become the number one university in the country.
