AMU students Union gets new office bearers

Polling for the post of President, Vice President, Honorary Secretary, ten members of Cabinet of the AMU Students Union, and student representatives at the University Court, Aligarh Muslim University went yesterday.

Abdullah Azzam defeated Leyaqat Khan for the post of president,Mobashshir Jamal  and  Syed Ali Murtaza were also in fray for the presidential post.Masood Ul Hasan won the post of vice president and Shahzeb Ahmad won the contest of secretary.More than 70 percent students used their right to vote.Three candidates were in fray for the post of Vice President and two for the post of Honorary Secretary. Thirteen candidates were trying their luck for ten cabinet seats.Besides the above, candidates were also fighting for a berth in the University’s apex body, University Court from twelve faculties.

The officiating Vice Chancellor, Brig. Syed Ahmad Ali took a round in the campus and inspected the polling process at the various polling stations in different faculties. A vigilant proctorial team and security personnel kept a watch on the situation outside every polling booth. A large number of faculty members were deputed to conduct the polling in a peaceful and professional manner.
The Chief Election Officer, Prof. Hakeem Naeem Ahmad thanks all students and teachers for the peaceful conduct of the election.
