AMU gets 15 new smart-class rooms

ALIGARH June 6: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today inaugurated 15 multimedia smart-class rooms in the University.

Five smart smart-class rooms in the Women’s College, five in the Faculty of Law, two in the Department of Mass Communication, two in the Department of Geography and one in the Department of Education were inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor.

Prof Naima Khatoon (Principal, Women’s College), Prof Zaheeruddin (Dean, Faculty of Law), Prof M Shakir (Dean, Faculty of Science), Prof Javaid Talib (Chairperson, Department of Law), Prof Mohammed Parvez (Chairperson, Department of Education), Prof Afrina Rizvi (Chairperson, Department of Mass Communication) and Prof Ateeque Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Geography) were present on the occasion with AMU Smart-Class Room Committee members, Prof Asfar Ali Khan, Prof Irshad Mahmood, Prof Abid Ali Khan and Mr Ajay Bisaria. Dr Mohd Rihan (Member Incharge, Electricity) and Tariq Nazeer (University Engineer) were also present with their teams.

Congratulating the Smart-Class Room Committee, the Deans and Chairpersons, the Vice Chancellor said, “I am committed to improving and modernizing teaching-learning methods at AMU for the benefit of students, especially by leveraging ICT and updated knowledge systems. Our plan is to convert all classrooms in AMU into smart classrooms”.

Prof Mansoor urged the teachers to upload the revised syllabi and teaching aid material of their respective courses on the department page of the University website. He exhorted them to take the lead in conducting more Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) programmes in the University and encouraged engagement of alumni for special lectures under the Alig’s Academic Enrichment Programme (AAEP). He also urged the Deans and Chairpersons to operationalize existing MoUs with foreign universities for exchange programs of students and faculty.

The Vice Chancellor also promised study rooms for research scholars in various departments of studies.

Faculty members, research scholars and other staff attended the inaugural function of these smart-class rooms.
