AMU files FIR against the Hindu Yuva Vahini leaders

ALIGARH September 17:
The Aligarh Muslim University has lodged an FIR at the Civil Lines Police Station, Aligarh against the serious charges levelled by the state president of Hindu Yuva Vahini, Sunil Singh, in which he has termed the Aligarh Muslim University as a “nursery of terrorism”. Singh has also alleged that the AMU students are not only anti-national but also carry a terrorist mentality.

The allegations, which were reported by some Hindi dailies, were made during a press conference of the Vahini leaders including the State President, Sunil Singh, Aligarh Division Incharge of Hindu Yuva Vahini Mahant Kaushal Nath, Kanpur Division Incharge Vijay Narayan Singh and Aligarh-Agra Division Incharge Sampurnanand.

The Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, who has taken a serious note of the baseless and uncalled for charges made by the Vahini leaders, said that it was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the University’s image and defame the students of AMU. He said that the University has taken it seriously and a defamation suit will also be initiated against these leaders.

Lt. Gen. Shah said that the Aligarh Muslim University is a secular institution open to all without any distinction of religion, caste, creed, language and region. He said that the university is a citadel of pluralistic ethos, mutual tolerance and peaceful coexistence. He said that AMU is proud to be enshrined in the letter and spirit of the Constitution of India as an institution of national importance. He said that all students in this university live together and engage in academic activities without any division.

The FIR filed by the AMU PRO Dr. Rahat Abrar, states that “these statement of Hindu Yuva Vahini leaders alleging AMU students to be in close contact with ISIS pose a serious threat to the peace and the law and order situation of the city”.
