Umar and Anirban to stay in jail

A Delhi court on Wednesday reserved its orders on JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya’s bail plea in a sedition case for 18 March which has been opposed by Delhi Police saying that the allegations are grave on the students. The two has been in jail since February 23,under sedition charges for raising anti India slogans in the campus.
the additional session judge Reteesh Singh heard the argument in which both the accused said that they should be relieved like Kanhaiyya ,since they are in judicial custody and on the other side the Delhi Police has made its stand clear saying that the case of Kanhaiyya was different from the two students as he was not the organiser of the programmer and nor was he present when the slogans were raised and on the other hand Umar and Anirban were the main organisers and there are 10 independent witnesses including the guards and the students who confined there views about the anti India slogans ,
Advocate Pais who represents Anirban said that there are number of reports and even police is saying that several videos are doctored and even the reports of JNU confirms that the slogans were raised by outsiders. Meanwhile in the parliament the need to scrap sedition law was raised firstly by the CPIM which got the support from other opposition parties and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has accused B.J.P for being “anti nationalist of all times” .
