Aafreen Shaikh, a student of class 10 at FD High School in Ahmedabad’s Juhapura, scores 98.31% in the GSEB SSC exams. She is the daughter of an auto driver, Mohammad Hamza.

She appeared for the exam along with 7.75 lakh students. Beating all financial odds, she emerged out successfully. She was decimals away from being the exam topper who scored 99%.

“I nurture a family of four and will do all that I can to educate my daughter and fulfil her dream of becoming a doctor. We’ve never differentiated between a girl or a male child, and I will be the most proud if my daughters study and become independent. I am trying to arrange for financial assistance so that Aafreen can pursue a career of her choice.” Said Aafreen’s father.

She gives the credit of her success to her hard work. She aspires to become a doctor and make her parents proud.

“I studied regularly. I want to pursue MBBS in future. My parents always dreamt of making me a doctor and I will surely fulfill their dreams,” said Aafreen, reports ANI.

“I would put in at least 6 to 7 hours of studies each day. Even after returning from tuition I would spend some time in revision. It is my dream to become a doctor and make my parents proud.” Aafreen told The Quaint.

Though Aafreen is one step closer to achieving her dream, financial aid is a big obstacle in her way of success.
