Rahul and Sonia insisted to continue in the party.

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi proposed to quit from the party. This decision was taken after the party performed disastrously in the 2014 Loksabha Elections, loosing most of their seats in the nation. On Monday, in the Congress Workers Committee (CWC) meeting, Sonia and Rahul, both decided to quit the party, taking charge of the poor performance in the elections but the CWC asserted them to continue on their posts.

It is said that during the CWC meeting, both Sonia and Rahul proposed to resign from the party posts 2-3 times but everytime the CWC insisted them to continue on their posts. The Times of India reported that a CWC member maintained that the resignation offers by Sonia and Rahul were not part of any scripted drama.
