Tamil Nadu Introduces Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture (TANATA); 5 Facts to Know Before Applying

Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture (TANATA) is a state level entrance exam, conducted for admissions to B.Arch. course. The exam is conducted by Anna University on annual basis in offline mode.

Most of you must be wondering that how TANATA is different from NATA. Well, as mentioned above, TANATA scores will only be accepted in Tamil Nadu, while NATA Scores will be accepted across India. Candidates who have successfully filled NATA Application Form last year, may apply for TANATA this year.

TANATA exam is a recently introduced exam, conducted for filling seats in B.Arch. course that are left vacant after completion of the counselling process.Ithas replaced the old scheme of filling allvacant or left-over seats based on the marks obtained by candidate in 10+2 examination.

Eligible candidates can apply for TANATA in the month of July 2018at its official website. Successfully registered candidates will sit for the exam in August 2018.They would be tested for their basic architecture level aptitude and drawing skills.

Candidates should secure a minimum of 25% (30 out of 120 marks) in written MCQ exam as well as 25% (20 out of 80) marks in drawing test in order to be considered for TANATA merit list.

TANATA Eligibility

Candidates before registering for the exam must check that whether all the eligibility criteria are satisfied by them.These eligibility criteria would be set by the exam conducting authority and maybe modified if required.

The detailed eligibility criteria for TANANAT 2018 is mentioned below for your reference:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • He should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination (with Mathematics as one of the subject).

Or

  • He should have acquired a 10+3 Diploma in any stream from recognized Central/State government with a minimum of 50% marks examination (with Mathematics as one of the subject).

Or

  • He should have an International Baccalaureate Diploma passed after 10 years of schooling with 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of exam.

TANATA 2018 Application Form

TANAT 2018 application form would be made available in online mode only. Candidates would have to visit the official website in order to make application for the exam.

Registration Process

  1. Go to the official website of Anna University- edu/tanata2017/
  2. Click on TANATA 2018 application.
  3. A new web page would be opened. Fill in the registration details asked for new users like the name; e-mail ID, mobile number etc.
  4. Click on submit. A new registration ID and password would be sent to the registered E-mail address.

Application Process

  1. Login to the portal using the credentials received through E-mail.
  2. Fill-in the details as per the directions given on the webpage.
  3. Select the preference, of course, exam center etc.
  4. Upload your signature and Photograph (as per dimensions provided in the notification) in .jpeg format.
  5. Click on submit.

Candidates would be required to furnish certain information in the application form which is to be filled to the best of their knowledge. Candidates must keep their relevant documents ready at the time of filling of application form.

TANATA Application Form Correction

Though the process of application is in online mode,the official notification does not mention any procedure for correction of the application form. Hence, candidates are required to apply utmost care while filling the form.

Any mistake, if made, in the application form, has to be corrected then and there before the submission is made.  Candidates must fill the form with calm and composure so as to avoid any possibility of a mistake creeping in.

Question: I have secured 60% overall in +2 examination, but one mark less than 50% in PCM. Am I eligible to apply then?

Answer: No, you have to satisfy the 50% aggregate criteria in order to be eligible for the exam. However, in case you are reserved category candidate then you can apply.

Question:  How many seats would be available for admissions through the exam?

Answer: The number of seats to be filled through TANATA 2018 exam would depend upon the number of seats remaining vacant after the completion of all rounds of counselling.

Question: Are only management quota seats are at offer?

Answer: Government quota seats along with the Management quota seats would be filled through TANATA 2018 exam.

Question: What if my application doesn’t get submitted?

Answer: In that case, your should contact the exam conducting authority at tanata2017@annauniv.edu.

Question: Will the money be refunded on the rejection of the application due to any cause?

Answer: No, money would not be refunded in any case.
