Various Online Platforms to Accelerate JEE Main Preparation

Online platforms have become popular among students preparing for various entrance exams such as JEE Main and NEET. A lot of students now opt for the online exam medium due to its various conveniences and thus online preparation seem to be a better option to get familiar with the online mode and paper pattern ofJEE Main.

A lot of the online study material is prepared by IIT experts, and sometimes by IITians themselves. This ensures that the online content is relevant and of high quality, as the one creating it would be familiar with all the traditional study material and content.

In addition to the above points, by far the biggest advantage of online preparation is the flexibility that it offers. Online material is always available at the click of a button, with some applications allowing the option to download it beforehand, so that material is available offline whenever you need it. There is no crowd to distract you from your studies, no time limit for how long or when you want to study, and nobody will yell at you for having a snack in the middle of a lecture.

In case there is a doubt that needs to be answered, or if you are in need of some personalized advice, you can have live chat sessions with experts that are almost always on standby, offering help and tutoring anyone who so desires.

JEE Main study material would also offer countless practice/mock tests, along with past years’ question papers. The practice material holds immeasurable value and as such should be always had in a deal. As the practice tests and question papers are delivered immediately to your phone, tablet and computer, it makes much more sense to have them online. Even the evaluation of the said tests would be faster as they are checked via software, which completes the task almost instantaneously.

Online Apps

Online study apps offer a complete study package for the students preparing for IIT JEE and other such competitive examinations. It provides free access to a plethora of study content, usually for free. Thus, they make a great alternative to traditional study methods.

Various apps such as IIT JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2018, AskIITians, Aakash iTutor, Khan Academy, Toppr and Prep-Lane offer online study material, along with the option to download it, so that it can be used later.

Aakash iTutor goes a step further by including Aakash Coaching institutes’ huge collection of books and other study materials to students for a little premium. Other than that, all these apps feature 24×7 technical support for students, in case someone has a doubt or needs a more personal touch regarding a few questions. Experts are almost always available at the click of a button.

Some premium apps also feature different online test series for JEE Main and Advanced which a student can attempt to practice the paper as per the pattern of the real examination. It should be noted that premium apps usually also have free versions, but the latter is filled with adds. Having advertisements pop up mid-lecture could be a little annoying, but it is nothing close to a deal breaker.

YouTube Channels

YouTube is a free-to-use video sharing platform. In the recent years, a lot of content creators have turned to YouTube to build a platform for themselves. If you aren’t familiar with how to use YouTube for studying purposes, the easiest explanation is this; go to, search for the keywords you want (in this case, it would be JEE preparation), and then click on one of the options that appear below. You can also reach out to a creator for any query regarding anything through the comment section or YouTube’s messaging service.

Channels such as Any Time Padhai Academy, a Kota based online study material and content provider, aims to provide quality content in the form of short video lectures exclusively for JEE. They provide Kota’s famed classroom level education to each student through online teaching methods. Other YouTube channels such asToppr, COACHengg, BYJU’S JEE and Etoos Education aim at providing efficient and effective study material that helps students prepare for both their classes as well as competitive exams such as JEE, NEET and NTSE. These channels have high-quality video lectures for you to choose from.

Then there are also channels such as Delhi Knowledge Track, i.e., channels that create bilingual content, in both Hindi and English, thus bringing the knowledge, which was previously limited to the confines of classroom, into the reach to the masses, absolutely free of cost.

The best feature about learning from a video lecture is that you can pause and rewind at any moment if you feel like, or if there is a step that you didn’t quite understand. The attention to detail coupled with the quality of content makes YouTube a great platform to prepare for JEE.

Mock Tests

Mock tests are perhaps the most important ingredient in JEE preparation. All JEE aspirants should practice with online mock tests to check their level of preparation, get familiar with the exam pattern and witness the exam-like situation, such as working in a time limit. Familiarizing yourself with the real world conditions of the exam will go a long in preparing you for the exam.

Websites such as,,, and online test offer a huge collection of online mock tests that mirror real JEE exam. They are the best tools for any candidate to prepare for not only JEE but any entrance exam.

To practice on a mock test, simply go to any of the websites or apps that offer mock tests, and then click on the option that says “Mock test”, “Practice test” or any synonym of these. After clicking on it, you shall be redirected to the mock test portion of that website. Click on “begin” to start the test. A timer will be provided to you for keeping track of either the elapsed or remaining time. Proceed with the test as normal. After completion, the page will display your score. Depending on which website you use, there might also be statistics relating to how well others have performed in a similar test and where you would stand among them.

With the online preparation courses gaining popularity, it makes a lot of sense for you to take the leap into the digital world of studying. Mobile apps, YouTube channels, online mock tests, all help students achieve their aim of clearing JEE, albeit without the inconvenience of stepping out of their house and wasting time in traveling. If you are still shy about trying online study methods, don’t be. Remember, it’s usually free of cost, so even if you’re already using traditional means for studying, you can just use the online material in your spare time.

TS EAMCET 2018 : 7 Tips to Ace The Exams

Telangana State Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) is scheduled to be held in the first week of May, 2018. Qualifying candidates get admission into various professional courses at engineering and medical colleges and universities in the state of Telangana. Application forms for the same will be made available in the last week of February. Admission will be made on the basis of results for TS EAMCET 2018, to be declared in the third week of May, 2018 (tentatively).

According to stats, 2.5 lakhs students appear for the examination and around 80% of the students qualify for the admissions. Candidates are expected to put in hours of training and tedious efforts in order to ace the exam. Competition is one parameter which moves on an ever rising graph. In this article, we will be discussing some of the expert tips to help you crack the examination with a good score. By the end of this article you will leave with a better understanding of the examination and quick tips on how to give your best.

Understand the Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Understanding the exam pattern will help you get an idea on how to approach the exam. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. It will consist of three sections- Physics, Chemistry and Maths with 1 hour for each subject. Candidates are to make sure that they do not spend more than 1 hour on each subject.

The syllabus for the examination is similar to that of class 12 board exam for Telangana. The syllabus is released every year by the admission authority. One must refer to it and prepare accordingly keeping their target on obtaining maximum marks depending on their weakness and strengths.

Identify Your Strength and Weakness

It is important for the candidates to do Self-evaluation when it comes to the examination. This will help them to analyze the subjects or concepts they are strong in and the ones they need to work on. Solving papers every day and attempting mock tests will help them with identifying their strengths and weaknesses. The best solution is to read up everything but at the same time focusing more on your weak areas to make sure that these too convert to your strengths.

Practice via Previous Years’ Papers and Mock Tests

This is the oldest yet the best practice which must be followed by all the students. Solving papers from past few years will help them gain a better understanding of the paper pattern, important topics, and time management. Mock tests are to be considered as nothing less than trailers for the main movie. The more you go in for these tests, better will be your chances of scoring well in the main exam.

Make a Schedule

To complete a task successfully, it is necessary to make a plan for it. Prepare a daily schedule to prepare for the exam and stick to it. It is an added benefit if mock tests and other papers are a part of your routine. Allocate time to subjects separately and plan out the study hours very carefully. Make sure you have enough time to rest and freshen up.

Decide on Your Attempting Order

Three hours is a long duration for your brain to keep functioning at the same pace. It goes without saying that the first hour of the exam will be less taxing as compared to the remaining 2 hours. It is wise to choose the subject they you are strong in and attempt it first. This helps in boosting confidence as you will be able to solve questions quickly and effectively.

Manage Time Allocation

Deciding how much time should be dedicated to each section and keeping extra time for revisions works wonders for competitive exams. Missing out on this aspect could cost the students more than expected. An ideal state would be spending 45 minutes for each section and keeping 15 minutes for revision for each section. While solving mock tests or question papers from the past years, candidates should set a time limit to a maximum two and a half hours. This practice will help them immensely during the exam.

All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy

While it is unavoidable to dedicate a major part of your day to studies, at the same time it is not to be forgotten that physical activity and relaxation are equally essential. It is important to keep some part of your day for some kind of physical activity or meditation. Eating good food should also be a part of the checklist to boost mental health.

JEE Main 2018: Last 3 Years Paper Analysis

JEE Main is one of the most sought-after engineering examinations of the country. With its audience being as huge as a million, one has to be really smart to emerge amongst the toppers. Hard work coupled with smart work is the best way to crack this exam.

One of the smart techniques to aceit is to keep an eye on the previous year trends. Solving past year papers and knowing which topics are important can be of immense help. Therefore, it is always wise to analyze papers of some past years, to understand and know the exam better.

We bring you the paper analysis of past yearsto prepare for JEE Main. You should have a close look at the trends of the paper, as the exam has not been changing a lot from past 3-4 years. So, let us see how the papers have been and understand what can be there for us in 2018: –

JEE Main 2017 Analysis

JEE Main 2017 was held on April 2nd, 2017 in the offline mode. The test had the same examination pattern as it was last year, with total 90 questions and 30 questions from each section. Thankfully, this paper did not carry any big surprise for students, as all the questions were correct and were not ambiguous.

Overall, the paper was not on tougher side. It was moderately easy. However, the difficult thing was the length of the paper. Let us know how the individual sections of the paper were:

Physics section was exactly framed the way one would expect in JEE. It was not easy, not tough, but was tricky, and required some thought to crack. However, many students said that it was easier than JEE Main 2016’s Physics section.

Most of the questions were moderate in both length and difficulty. Majority of the questions belonged to Class XII syllabus. However, this time more questions were of calculative nature, and thus importance of theoretical questions got decreased.

If we see a topic-wise distribution, Mechanics proved to be the most important topic with 11 questions. After this, electrodynamics carried 6 questions; Modern & Nuclear physics also carried 6. 3 questions were there from thermodynamics and kinetic theory, and 2 from optics and wave optics. On a whole, 19 questions were from Class XII syllabus and 11 from Class XI.

Chemistry was a sort of relief for most of the students. It was easy as well as less time consuming, thus becoming the easiest section of JEE Main 2017. JEE Main 2016 also had same level of difficulty, thus many students were probably ready to pick up speed and solve this section quickly. Also, most of the questions were of theoretical nature, thus easing the task even further.

Topic-wise, the distribution was 8, 11 and 11 questions from Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry respectively. As expected, Class XII syllabus carried more weightage than Class XI, with 17 questions from the former and 13 from latter.

The surprise, in terms of nature of questions this year was Mathematics section. The questions were not tricky, but actually were lengthy to solve, thus making this section a deceptive one. Examinees had to keep patience and avoid mistakes in calculation, to succeed in this section.

Due to its length, many students reckoned it as the most difficult section of JEE Main 2017, even after the questions were not as tricky as last year. Class XII syllabus proved to be a big majority here, with 20 questions from it. The rest of the 10 questions were from Class XI syllabus.

Looking from a topic-wise perspective, Conics, Trigonometry and Vector Algebra carried 3 questions each. 6 questions were from Calculus and 15 from Algebra, this making it the most important topic for this year.

JEE Main 2016 Analysis

JEE Main 2016was held on April 3rd, 2016. The exam carried the same examination pattern like the year previous to it. A total of 90 MCQs carrying 360 marks were there in the question paper, with a time frame of 3 hours.

Overall, the paper did seem to be a little tough this year, especially when compared to 2015. While Physics was both tricky and lengthy, the other two sections were also not as easy as one would expect. There were also some ambiguous questions which raised the worries even further. Let us take a look the sectional analysis of the paper: –

Physics section was on moderate side overall. There were some questions which were directly repeated from previous years’ papers, which was a real delight for many students. However, many questions did seem simple but were calculative and lengthy in nature. Debatable language and options of some of the question increased the difficulty of the paper.

Mechanics and Electrodynamics proved to be most important topics, sharing 16 questions within them (8 each). Modern Physics had 6 questions, while head and optics carried 3 questions each. Waves had two questions in the paper. 13 questions were in the paper from Class XI syllabus and rest 17 from Class XII.

Chemistry was also a nicely framed section, except the fact that there were two debatable questions. Physical and Organic Chemistry part of the paper was doable and students had the chance to score from these. On the other hand, Organic Chemistry did prove to be toughas some factual questions were there in the paper. A good thing was that all the topics were from NCERT syllabus, which definitely proved to be a big plus for students.

Class XII syllabus again stood as a clear majority here, with 18 questions. Rest 12 questions were from class XI syllabus. Apart from this, CBSE did a great job by giving exactly equal importance to all 3 sub-parts of the subject, with 10 questions appearing each from Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry.

Mathematics section was majorly of mid-level. Students had a good chance to score if they were able to plan and execute well. Out of 30, 8 questions can be called difficult, while rest ranged from easy to moderate level. The only problem was that one question (on binomial theorem) was a factually incorrect question. Apart from that, whole section was nicely balanced, though not a very high scoring one.

Algebra and Calculus dominated the paper, with 11 questions from Algebra and 9 from Calculus. Topics like Co-ordinate geometry, Vector 3D and Trigonometry carried 5, 3 and 2 questions respectively. An interesting thing in the paper was that class XII and XI syllabus carried equal weightage, with 15 questions from each of them.

JEE Main 2015 Analysis

JEE Main 2015 was held on April4th, 2015, witnessing an audience of more than a million candidates. We can say that overall the exam was moderate. Questions with medium level of difficulty were highest in number, followed by easy questions. A total of 13 questions in the paper were really tough ones. The paper looked to be quite a doable one, and even students who had studied class XII only could have scored 50% easily. Let us dive deep into the paper and have a section wise analysis of the paper: –

Physics section once again proved to be a tricky one for most of the candidates. A high number of questions were analytical in nature, which made this section a time consuming one. More or less the paper was of similar level of difficulty as expected, as being JEE one does expect the paper to be at least moderate, if not easy.

The section featured 13 questions from Class XI syllabus and rest from Class XII. Taking a topic-wise distribution, the major topics were Mechanics, Magnetics & EMI and Electrostatics & Current Electricity proved to be the most important topics, with collectively 17 questions in them. After this optics & waves, waves & elasticity along with heat and thermodynamics were other important ones.

Chemistry again proved to be a life saver for students. The students felt that this section was not as tough as others and thus took it as section to secure maximum marks. The paper had 8 easy, 17 medium and 5 difficult questions, thus giving the students a chance to get as many as 25 questions correct at least.

However, there was a dominance of inorganic section this time. As many as 13 questions appeared from it, while organic and physical chemistry carried 8 and 9 questions each. The distribution of questions amongst class XI and XII syllabus was a little surprising, as Class XII syllabus dominated heavily here, with 20 questions out of 30. Thus, class XI syllabus had to settle with 1/3rd of the section with only 10 questions.

Mathematics was the one section of the paper which received varied responses from students. While some said that it was the easiest section, others found it to lengthy and calculative. However, the question paper was not a tough one, as only 3 questions out of 30 were of high level of difficulty. 90% of this section revolved around easy to medium questions, and therefore, this section cannot be called a tough one.

Topic-wise, it was much on expected lines. Algebra and calculus dominated (as usual), with 9 and 8 questions respectively. From other topics, Co-ordinate had 6 questions, Vector/3D had 3. The other two topics, trigonometry and statistics carried two questions each. However, the bigger surprise was that Class XI syllabus dominated this section, with 16 questions. Class XII syllabus, quite unusually, had only 14 questions.

  1. Confusions Related to Adhaar Card

It is seen that the maximum queries are related to aadhaar card only. Candidates have been asking questions like their records are not accurate in their aadhaar card or are not matching with the information in their supporting documents.

Also, what will happen if they have recently enrolled for updating details in aadhaar card and not yet received the new aadhaar card, so would they be able to apply for JEE Main 2018. What to do if their aadhaar authentication will fail during JEE Main application form submission.

Candidates also wonder how can the aspirants from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Meghalaya, who do not have aadhaar card can apply for JEE Main 2018, and if in case they hold an aadhaar card, could they choose examination center across India in JEE Main 2018?

Clarifications Related to Adhaar Card

Well, CBSE clarifies that applicants may fill JEE Main 2018 application form by providing 14 digits aadhaar card enrolment ID (including slash ‘/’) printed on the aadhaar update slip issued by Aadhaar Centre on submitting the update request in case they have submitted a request for either a new aadhaar card, or for updating the existing particulars.

Secondly, if the aadhaar authentication will fail while applying for JEE Main application form, you need to verify the correct aadhaar number as mentioned on the card along with the biometrics in the aadhaar database. In the latter case, you can submit a correction request at the aadhaar center for updating biometrics and then apply for JEE Main by providing 14 digits aadhaar enrolment ID (including slash) printed on the slip issued by Aadhaar center after submitting the updation request.

At last, about the aspirants from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Meghalaya, they are excluded from the aadhaar card requirement only if they opt to get the examination center in their states. In such a case, it is fine for them to provide bank account number, ration card number, passport number or any other valid identity issued by the government of India or state, provided that they fulfill the eligibility criteria.

  1. Confusions Related to Correction in Online Application Form

Many enquire if they can change the mode of JEE Main after the submission of application form. Also, if in case they have applied for both Paper – 1 and Paper – 2, would they be able to attempt any one of these papers. If so, would the application fee for the unattempted exam be refunded?

In addition to this, other small queries such as if they need to provide their class 12th roll number or are also curious about the scenarios when more than one application form are submitted for the same candidate. Few aspirants need clarity in case they do not select the preference of date & time slot for the online exam at the selected city, then what would happen.

Clarifications Related to Correction in Online Application Form

CBSE clarifies well on all the above-mentioned queries. As per the board, candidates may change the mode of exam only from offline mode to online mode, and not from online to offline. Additionally, the following corrections can be made in the application form only if the applicant has paid the application fee and completed all the steps of online application form submission:

  • All the particulars including the city of examination.
  • Paper – 2 to Paper – 1 and vice versa.
  • You may also select both papers if it was not done earlier. The balance fee for the additional paper will have to be paid by the specified time.

CBSE clears that the applicants who have registered for both papers may appear in any one or both the papers as per their choice. But the application fee will not be refunded in any case. Also, the option of entering the roll number is not mandatory. If it is allotted, then the candidates can mention it in the application form. Else they may leave it blank.

Regarding the multiple application forms, CBSE clarifies that when more than one application forms are submitted by the same candidate, normally they are merged due to the resemblance of all the fields. And only one admit card is issued to the candidate. However, aspirants also must send an e-mail to mentioning both the application numbers and specifying clearly the application number which they want to be retained.

In case candidates do not specify their choice for a date and time slot, it will be randomly assigned as per the availability at the selected city. Those details will be mentioned on the admit card of the candidate.

Candidates also enquire if the photograph without name and date be rejected or is the thumb impression mandatory while filling the application form.
