Second Cutoff 2018: No seats left for several courses at the top colleges’ like- LSR, Hindu and SRCC

Some of the prestigious colleges of the Delhi University, including the Sri Ram College of Commerce, Lady Shri Ram and Hindu did not announce their second cut-off for several courses as most of their seats were filled after the announcement of the first cut-off on 19th June. More than 15,000 students enrolled for admissions in first three days after the declaration of the first cut-off list due to which many colleges closed admission for several courses after the announcement of a second cut-off list on Sunday.

LSR has closed admissions for BA (Honors) Economics, BA (Honors) Political Science, BA (Honors) History, BA (Honors) Psychology, BA (Honors) Sociology and B.Com (Honors). They had already cleared their intentions after they announced a cut-off of 98.75% for the BA Programme in the first list. In the second cut-off list, the cutoff declined by 1% for the same course.

Similarly, Kirori Mal College will not be taking any candidate for courses such as BA (Honors) Urdu, BA (Honors) Sanskrit and BSc. (Physical Science) with computer science optional for general category candidates. The SRCC has finished admitting SC candidates in BA (Honors) Economics. The Hindu College and Gargi College also slammed their doors for general candidates in BA (Honors) History, BA (Honors) Political Science and BA Programme.

The top-ranked college of the country, Miranda House also closed admissions in BA (Honors) Geography, BA (Honors) Political Science and BA (Honors) Philosophy for general candidates. Ramjas, which is one of the oldest colleges of the University, has closed admissions in BA (Honors) Hindi, BA Programme and B.Com for general candidates.

The university will announce three more cut-off lists as they have intended it clearly about five cut-off lists in 2018. The turnout of the first cutoff was really better as compared to last year. A similar turnout for admissions in second round can be expected even though  some of the colleges have closed their admissions window for few selective courses.
