Raleigh Literary Society of AMU organises a series of competitions

The Raleigh Literary Society named after the eminent Sir Walter Raleigh is not just the pride of the Department of English but of the whole of the Aligarh Muslim University.

Like every session, this session too, a series of competitions took place. Spelling Bee and Speech Competition was held on February 22nd, 2017. The topic for the Speech Competition was very much associated with the present scenario, ”Democracy- Challenges to Democratic Thought and Governance”.

The winners of the speech competition were Faisal Al-Hakeem, Syed Sajjad Hussain and Usaid bin Khaled Khan . The winners of the Spelling Bee were Md Jahiruddin Sarkar, Kaif Siddiqui, Subhan Azhar Siddiqui, Isbah Khan, Rayyan Nemat, Varun Verma, Bushra Miftah and Abdul Malik .On February 23rd, 2017 power-point presentation competition was held on the topic “Depiction of Minorities in Cinema”. The winners were Mohd Shoeb, Aisha Abbas, Shubham Sharma and Tabeeda Binte Bashir. On the same day, illustration of proverbs also took place, crowning Aisha Abbas, Anam Beg, Aliya Saba Mirza and Aiman Khalid as the winners. The participants were full of enthusiasm and confidence.

Zakra Saiwa, President ; Shafaque Zehra, Secretary; Momin Ali, Joint-Secretary; Ayush Gaur, Treasurer; and Mohammad Danish Mahmood, Joint Treasurer contributed in organizing the competitions. The teachers in-charge Dr. Aysha Munira and Dr. Vibha Sharma, under the guidance of the chairperson Prof. Seemin Hasan has made the events successful.

The events were hosted by Zakra Saiwa.
