QS World University Ranking 2019; IIT Bombay displaces IIT Delhi; 24 Indian Universities make it to top 1000 list

Before we start off with telling you about QS Ranking for 2019, we must tell you what QS ranking is. QS World University Ranking is published annually by Quacquarelli Symonds. This system ranks universities all around the globe.

From an Indian student’s point of view, we can tell you that are few colleges situated in India that featured in the top 200 universities in QS Ranking of 2019. Those universities are:

  1. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay
  2. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
  3. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

While, IIT Delhi scored the same rank as last year, IIT has climbed up 17 notches by attaining the 162nd rank. IISc Bangalore has attained the 170th rank and has moved up by 20 notches.

According to the QS Ranking of 2019, the top 10 universities of the world are MIT, Stanford University, Harvard University, California Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, University of Chicago and University College London.

This year, 4 more universities from India entered into the top 1000 universities of  QS Ranking than last year. Now, there are total 24 Indian Universities in the top 1000. Some of the universities featuring in the top 500 list are IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, University of Delhi, etc.

Some new Indian universities that entered the list this year are Amrita University, Amity University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Thapar University and Vellore Institute of Technology.

MIT remains the best university globally for the seventh year in a row.
