Starting a new session with a guest lecture, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship,Jamia Millia Islamia invited Professor Saifur Rahman,founding director of the Advanced Research Institute at Virginia Tech(USA) to deliver a lecture on “Partnership for Innovation: Addressing A Complex Problem”.
Dean faculty of Engineering and Technology Mohammad Shakeel welcomed the guest speaker Professor Saifur Rahman by presenting memento as a token of appreciation from Jamia Millia Islamia.Under the coordination of Professor Mini Thomas, In charge of Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Milia Islamia, auditorium filled with about 250 cheered up students of Electronics & Communications,Computer and Electrical Engineering listened enthusiastically to Professor Saifur Rahman who utilized their excitement on stage by delivering a lecture on “Partnership for Innovation: Addressing A Complex Problem”.
In his one hour long lecture he motivated students to focus on research and develop products using open source development boards as there are many boards available in market namely Pandaboard, Beagleboard,Raspberry pi etc.Being open source, Raspberry Pi has become the most favorite choice for researchers and engineers to make devices for labs. Hence students at university are encouraged to work in this field during their studies and possibly come up with innovative solutions to engineering problems.
Students were very enthusiastic to learn about various options using which they can develop real time embedded products to run various home appliances for fun as well as educational purpose.Later Professor Mini S. Thomas urged students to focus on real skills as only securing good marks in college is not enough to survive in industry.She also mentioned that Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will continue this kind of innovative guest sessions and industrial tie ups in coming days.
