‘PK’ SCENES WHICH HURTS RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS SHOULD BE REMOVED: AIMPLB MEMBER

With the right-wing outfit alleging that some portion of scenes of the film ‘PK’ hurts the religious sentiment of the majority community. A member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board(AIMPLB) said that the Censor Board should remove the scenes from the movie to ensure that the communal harmony is not disturbed. But the Censor Board has refused to remove the scenes from the movie.
Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Manali said that it has been noticed that there are some scenes in film ‘PK’ which hurt religious sentiment, and if it is then it is not good. He said that the freedom of expression does not mean hurting someone’s sentiments and has asked the censor board to remove those scenes from the movie to maintain the communal harmony.
He said that the way the atmosphere of the country and UP was vitiated, small matters are blown out of proportion and issues like ‘Love Jihad’ and Conversion were being raised, so it is the need of the hour to take precautions while making the film.
Maulana said that if the film had material which hurts religious sentiment and especially when it is acted by the Muslim Aamir Khan, who played the Hindu character, then it might be taken otherwise.
Right-wing group Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has claimed that movie hurts the sentiment and has sought an immediate ban on the movie, saying that its content is “highly provocative”.
