Over 4000 young leaders participate in the largest ‘development festival’

The largest ever gathering of youth to celebrate social development was organised on 12th March by the volunteer youth movement- ‘Leaders For Tomorrow’. The annual event aimed at bringing together the youth leaders in social change witnessed the participation of over 4000 youth who joined in various events themed around social development.

The development festival- “A Date with Development” that was held at Community Centre, near Connaught Place, saw youth joining in large numbers to display their skills while exploring various social issues through competitions ranging from short film making, t-shirt designing, debate, to poetry writing, ad-mad, and battle of bands.

The event also included cultural exhibitions and a panel discussion on ‘Youth and Social Entrepreneurship’. The panel discussion saw the presence of young social entrepreneurs: Hemant Sahal, Founder of CollPoll; Aashish Beergi, Co-Founder, Mash Project; and Onkar Khullar, Founder of I Impact India, discuss the various aspects of social entrepreneurship and motivated youth on how to start their journey as an entrepreneur.

The event was the grand culmination of the ‘development week’ which saw a series of events including a youth awakening rally and flash mobs across the city, aimed at inspiring the youth to be a part of social change.

Speaking about the event, Sahil Taneja, Delhi Chapter Head, Leaders For Tomorrow, said, “Social work is always associated with monotony and sacrifices. Here we want the youth to understand that leading social work can be fun and exciting and can be a space where your talents can be put to the best use.”

Binoy Job, the founder of ‘Leaders For Tomorrow Foundation said, “This event is an example of how our youth will join hands together to do their bit in nation-building. With ONLY one focus of VOLUNTEERING for SOCIAL CHANGE, our members are proving to be true catalysts of change”

This event is one of its kind with the distinction of being conceptualised, planned and executed by young leaders from over 200 colleges and 15 universities of Delhi NCR and promises to be a unique testimony of what the youth can accomplish if determined to lead change.
