Noted film artist Naseeruddin Shah likely to visit AMU on Oct. 18

“AMU Alumni from across the world have donated more than 2.5 crore rupees to their alma mater during the past two years”, said Dr. Suhail Sabir, Chairman, Alumni Affairs Committee, Aligarh Muslim University at a press conference held today. He said that noted film artist and AMU alumnus, Naseeruddin Shah has given his consent to grace the inaugural session of the Alumni Meet as a guest of honour.

The press conference, also addressed by Dr. Rahat Abrar, Public Relations Officer, was convened to disseminate information regarding the two-day AMU Alumni Meet 2015, which is scheduled to begin on October 18, 2015.

Dr. Suhail Sabir told newspersons that for the first time in the history of the University, AMU alumni were expected to attend the Alumni Meet in such a large number. He said that more than 600 alumni, residing in different countries and states in India, had already registered themselves for participation in the grand union. He confirmed that these “old boys and girls” were coming from USA, Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Fiji, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Pakistan.

Dr. Suhail Sabir informed that the two-day event will be web cast to enable alumni all over the world to witness the proceedings and reminisce their “good old days in AMU”. He said that the inaugural function will begin at 10 am in the Kennedy Auditorium and Chief Information Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Jawed Usmani will be the chief guest. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah will preside over the proceedings.

Prof. Habib A. Zuberi, Emeritus Professor of Economics, University of Michigan, USA, Padma Bhushan Dr. Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis-Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi, Mr. Ameer Ahmad, Chairman and Group Management Director, Manappat Group of Companies, Dubai and Mr. Naseeruddin Shah will grace the function as guests of honour.
