Metro in Jamia: Trial runs begin on Magenta Line

Jamia Millia Islamia,New Delhi:

The ribbon has been cut. A new stretch has been flagged off and students are now looking forward to a less frustrating commute as Delhi Metro runs its first trial at Jamia Millia Islamia. If anything, it is a sore reminder of what Jamia didn’t have. The metro at Jamia comes under the Magenta line adding 25 metro stations from Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden. The Magenta Line will also provide direct connectivity to Terminal 1D of Indira Gandhi International Airport. It will also have interchanges with the Blue Line at Janakpuri West, with Yellow Line at Hauz Khas and with Violet Line of the Delhi metro network at Kalkaji. The first trial run on the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro was conducted on Wednesday between Kalkaji Mandir and Okhla Vihar metro stations. The 38-km-long Magenta line is expected to cater to 4 lakh passengers.
