Meet Humah Khan- The Bespoken Hero Of Aligarh Muslim University

“If the school is a sea of knowledge and the students therein my fellow fish; then college life is like an ecosystem where survival and nourishment are to be learnt and absorbed in equal doses.”

Like many students who enter the university with thumping hearts and excited sighs, Humah Khan, now a post graduate student of Aligarh Muslim University, made her way into the college grounds with high hopes and a resolute spirit. As she herself admits, “From being a mediocre student to evolving into a student with exceptional accomplishments, it had undoubtedly been a difficult journey. Success is always cherished more by those who have endured failure in life, and that’s exactly my story.”
Drawing an analogy of a cocooned caterpillar, Humah Khan metamorphosed into a butterfly as she slowly and gradually started unveiling her silken threads of great potential. She recognised her gift of the Gabb quite early in college and committed herself to harness this talent.

Public speaking became her passion and she started participating in it extensively. From being a winner in inter-hostel competitions she went on to become a winner in various national level debate competitions. Through this journey of continuous evolution and learning, Humah Khan became the pride of the Aligarh Muslim University.

Speaking of her inspiring legacy to all the young girls at AMU, Humah has said, “There can be nothing more rejoicing than representing your own university at national level in debate competitions, competing with around hundred debaters from other universities across India and finally emerging as a victorious debater amongst all the opponent debaters thereby bringing laurels to your own university. This is like a dream come true and I lived this dream for four consecutive years by emerging as the Best Speaker in All India Sir Syed Memorial Debate AMU;  Sardar Gurcharan Singh Memorial 8th National Debate Competition Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun; ‘Miraas National Debate, Jamia Milia Islamia’ in 2013,2015 and 2016 respectively as well as being the recipient of Second Prize in ‘Miraas National Debate Competition, Jamia Milia Islamia’ in 2014.’

These are just a few victories in her name and she keeps adding more glorious feathers to her cap every passing day. Her story is that which teaches us the unmatched power of determination and hard work that are forerunners to true success. Like every winner, she has had a great support system in her family and friends who have encouraged her to touch the unbidden heights of excellence.

After being a winner of Hundred Public Speaking Competitions so far with four extravagantly remarkable victories, her undying spirit yearns for more and keeps her going forward. Humah has been the recipient of “University Gold Medal” and “Mohammad Tayyab Baksh Memorial Gold Medal” in 2016. The administration of Aligarh Muslim University also recognised her academic and co-curricular achievements thereby choosing her as the recipient of “The President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal” which is the most renowned medal in the convocation ceremony of AMU.

Her embellishments shine bright and high, and inspire many girls of AMU to chase their dreams with utmost passion and vigour, for the taste of success is granted only to those who toil relentlessly.
