Massive protest turns out against the seminar on the issue of ‘RamJanmBhoomi’ in DU

Students of Delhi University today protested in huge numbers in front of Ram Janm Bhoomi seminar venue to send out a message that students from various communities in Delhi University stand against these attempts of polarizing youth through the Ram janm bhoomi seminar.

It is to be noted that a two-day seminar titled “Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Temple: Emerging Scenario” is scheduled to begin on January 9 at the Delhi University’s Arts Faculty. The event is being organised by Arundhati Vashishtha Anusandhan Peeth (AVAP), which is a ‘research’ organisation founded by late VHP leader Ashok Singhal.

In a press release by Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS), KYS strongly feels that these attempts are aimed at polarizing common masses so as to win the coming Uttar Pradesh elections. With less than 15 months left for the UP elections, BJP is trying to convert Uttar Pradesh into a communal cauldron. Now, an academic space like DU is being used to further its politics by the BJP and its allies.

Students of Delhi University thus decided to protest in huge numbers against these murderous intentions of the ruling government. KYS upholds the syncretic legacy of India. It upholds the shared culture and joint struggle of various revolutionaries coming from various communities. Hasrat Mohani, Bhagat Singh, Ashfaqullah Khan, Rajguru who fought together for the independence of the nation is just an example which showcases the contribution of various communities in the Indian Past and their right on India’s Future.

There are larger questions looming in front of our nation today. It is alarming that majority of people in the country are below the poverty line. Around 82% youth remain out of the higher education. Casteism and Untouchability still prevails in the country. However, these remain to be  non-issue for the communal forces. It clearly shows the intentions with which the seminar is going to be organized.
