Founded as a part of a nationwide campaign for women’s education and empowerment by Annie Basant, Indraprastha College for Women established in 1924. It’s oldest constituent women’s college of University of Delhi situated in posh area of Delhi, Civil Lines and well connected to the city transport services. It has witnessed the British style parties and balls, the college is a heritage site of 205 acre and thus, proudly remains its architecture from the good old days which makes it stand out amongst others.

It secured highest score 3.33 CGPA with A grade through NAAC.

Courses offered

The college strength consist 3500 students and more than 90 professor. Every year it gets more than 1000 students enrolled in UG and PG programs. The college offers wide range of courses (List attached)which promotes the interdisciplinary studies in 3 streams Humanities, Commerce and mathematical Science. Its only college offers the self financed course BMMMC in university of Delhi.

Admission Process

The college follows the same admission process along the reservation policy( 27% OBC and 22.5% SC/ST) for all the courses as by the University except BMMMC. For BMMMC it conducts entrance test. The college has a need based admission policy which offers need based financial assistance to the new entrants.

Facilities

The college promotes research based studies. For advanced learner’s it provides research methodology programme and has introduced an UG research grant for Innovative and Original Projects.

The college boasts of six research and learning resource center for the same :

  • Translational and Translation Studies Center

  • Center for interdisciplinary studies
  • Center for Earth studies
  • Music Archives and listening room
  • Center for Sanskrit studies and research

The college also has medical room with all medical facilities along a regular attendees of a nurse or a counsellor. It has two hostels with capacity 450.

The college has full air conditioned infrastructure facility to support its academic and co- curricular activities. It has a well stocked library with book bank, lift for disability students and ICT center with 80 computers.

It has its own studio and production center from where the a hub for DU Community radio(DUCR) functions. It also has an Audio visual resource center, Seminar room, conference room, four exhibition foyer, well equipped Laboratories and auditorium with 586 capacity.

To promote sports it has a vast playground and multi facility sports infrastructure with Swimming pool, Climbing wall, Walking track, Gymnasium, shooting range etc. The college also has its own 26 seater bus. To support its formidable infrastructure and facilities the college has full power backup to ensure that all activities are carried out without any intruption. It has Internal Quality Assurance Cell to loom after everything.
