JNU student goes missing from campus, Delhi police begins investigation

Delhi police has finally started investigating the case of a PhD scholar gone missing from the campus of the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Mukul Jain, a research fellow from School of Life Sciences (SLS) at JNU, went missing on Monday afternoon.

Some reports say Jain was last seen at an SLS lab at around 12PM, while a CCTV footage shows Jain leaving JNU campusaround 12.30PM.

Jain’s family had approached JNU authorities after he failed to return home till late in the evening on Monday. Upon going through the CCTV footage of the campus, authorities found clips showing Jain leaving through Gate no. 4.

Mukul Jain’s mobile phone and wallet were later found in the lab.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Jain, a resident of Ghaziabad, was having an affair with a fellow student, which ended recently.

Posts seeking information about Jain has been circulating in social media since yesterday.
