Jamia’s Department of Computer Science organises Alumni Meet

Department of Computer Science, Jamia Millia Islamia yesterday organised it’s Annual Alumni Meet, Milestone 2017. The meet was attended by Alumni from different batches of the department.

The alumni meet was organized on Sunday at University Polytechnic Auditorium,Jamia Millia Islamia. The chief guest of the meet was T.P Singh, a Sr. Scientist at AIIMS New Delhi and was presided over by Dean, Natural Science Faculty, Prof. Sharif Ahmed. Raghib Khan and Faisal Abidi, the founders of RnF Technologies were also present as the guests of honour.
The function started with the Qiraat followed by Jamia Tarana.

Addressing the gathering, Head, Department of Computer Science, Dr. S.A.M Rizvi welcomed the guests and JMI alumni and highlighted the university’s and departments’ key objectives. He appreciated the efforts of current students for helping in organising the meet at a short notice.

Talking about the role of the alumni meet, Dr. Rizvi added: “The heart of the alumni meet lies in giving back in kind to their alma mater. Such meets not only aim to bring together and foster a bond among alumni, but also are a means of extending a helping hand to fresh graduates in different aspects, from job-hunting to career decisions.”

Dean, Faculty of Natural Science, Mr. Sharif Ahmed in his speech appreciated the efforts of the staff and students in organising the meet and encouraged to keep this culture on and organise more such events in future.

During the event, a panel discussion with the theme ‘Future of IT and Human Development’ was held. It was moderated by Kazim Naqvi and among the panelists were some well established alumni of the University.

“Gathered alumni recounted their life spent at Jamia and shared their past and present experiences with the gathering, which re-connected them to their university.”, said Tanzeel Khan, one of the organisers of Alumni Meet.

Alumni during the interaction session recalled their college days, gave suggestions to students and appreciated the organisers of the meet.

The alumni who couldn’t be a part of the meet in-person joined remotely and addressed the gathering.

The function concluded with the IT Quiz Session followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Suraiya Jabin, one of the faculty members of the department.
