Jamia VC releases books of poetry and short stories

In a ceremony informed by memories of yesteryears, Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia released two books of poetry and short stories. In a book-release function organized by the Academic Staff College, Jamia Millia Islamia Prof. Ahmad released Khwab-e-Sehar, a collection of Urdu poems by Late Prof. Anwar Siddiqui, formerly Head, Department of English and Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Jamia Millia Islamia. This book marks Jamia’s rich contribution to the world of Urdu poetry. Prof. Ahmad also released Magar Ek Shakh-e Nehal-e Gham, a collection of short stories by Dr. Rakshanda Ruhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ahmad stressed the need to promote Urdu language to consolidate India’s rich literary traditions. He promised to extend all possible support to any endeavour aimed at promoting India’s rich cultural and literary traditions.Earlier Prof. Mujtaba Khan, Director, Academic Staff College highlighted the role of Urdu in disseminating knowledge.The function was attended by Heads of Department and young scholars.
