Hundreds of students gathered in front of central canteen of Jamia Millia Islamia to extend the support to two students Naqi Mohammad and Imran Khan, who staged the hunger strike against the fee hike in the university. Because of the undying spirits and zeal of students, Prof. Tasneem Meenai, Dean Students Welfare and Prof. Mehtab Alam, Chief proctor came on the site to investigate the matter.

When administration felt that students are not going to sit aside this time they had no options rather than to fulfill the demands of students. They gave a written statement stating that they will constitute the fee reviewing committee and roll back the raised fees. Further more on the demand of students the two students who went on hunger strike were also added in fee reviewing committee.

“A meeting is scheduled to be held with administration tomorrow to take the final decision about the roll back of the fee hike and if administration will not roll back fee hike we will again start indefinite hunger strike .” said Naqi Mohammad.

“Last year we had demonstrated a huge protest against the fee hike but administration did not roll back the fees promising better facilities for the students but still they are not providing promised facilities so this time we called a hunger strike and finally administration promised to roll back the fee hike.”, said Imran Khan.
