An idea grows on a wall in Aligarh

The students of Aligarh Muslim University have organised themselves into a social service group called ‘SOCH…beyond imagination’. This NGO works relentlessly to uplift the marginalized and impoverished masses of Aligarh by organising donation drives and teaching workshops. Recently the SOCH team inaugurated the ‘Wall of Kindness’ in Sir Syed Nagar, Aligarh where people can leave clothes they no longer need and the poor can take from it what they need. Coming as a relief to the weak and poor during this biting cold, the wall of kindness is a way to lend a helping hand that doesn’t ask questions. Eliminating bureaucratic intervention and administrative overheads, the wall of kindness is a noble idea that has travelled to the city from the Gulf nations.

Rajeev Kumar Singh (C.O City Aligarh ) inaugurated the wall on Saturday. P.D. Sharma ( ACM-II Aligarh) also showed support and was accompanied by Prof Suhail Ahmad Siddiqui, Prof Abid Hasan , Prof Sabir Ali, Dr Faisal Zia, and Dr Farhan.

This initiative attracted the attention of many locals who stepped out to make the first donations and acknowledged the efforts of the educated youth in helping those in need. They also assured full support to the team.

Dr Danish Suhail & Dr Saleem Mohammad Khan, the president and secretary of the SOCH foundation, said that they have learned from their alma mater Aligarh Muslim University that they have a collective responsibility to make a positive difference in the society. The NGO has thus dedicated the wall of kindness to the founding father of AMU-Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
