Government to launch the full action plan of ‘ Start up India, Stand up India’ tomorrow

On the occasion of 2015’s Independence Day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi significantly took the fortitude of making India a developed nation by 2022. He encouraged the citizens of India to start up and stand up. He announced a new campaign ‘Start up India, stand up India’ to promote bank financing for start ups and offer incentives to boost entrepreneurship and job creation. It would encourage entrepreneurship among the youth.

In his speech he said, “Each of the 1.25 lakh bank branches should encourage Dalit or Adivasi entrepreneur and atleast one woman entrepreneur.”

On January 16 2016, the government will be launching the initiative with the participation of all major higher education institutions through online connectivity.

MODIS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE UPCOMING PLAN IN HIS MANN KI BAAT PROGRAMME :

In his radio programme, Mann ki baat, PM made certain announcements on the plan of Start up India, Stand up India.

“On August 15, I had made an initial mention of ‘Start up India, Stand up India’. After that it has been discussed in all government departments. Can India become the start-up capital of the world? On January 16, the government will launch the full action plan of ‘ Start up India, Stand up India’. I will come before you to discuss this in detail and would welcome your suggestions. I would request the state government as well to take this forward”, said Modi.

“The initative was not just about the IT or digital world but an effort to assist people starting new business ventures, especially those that involved innovation”, claimed the PM.

He also said that there was no lack of talent amongst the youth of the country and added that all IITs, IIMs, central universities, NITs and other institutions will be connected live to launch the event.

He said, “ A poor person somewhere uses manual labour to earn a living. Some other young indivisual may create something new and innovative that can make the work of the poor labourer slightly easier. I will say even this is a start- up. I will say even this is a start-up. I will tell he bank to support such indivisuals. I will tell the indivisual that he must move head. ‘Start up and stand up India’ will bring a big opportunity for young people across the country, be in manufacturing ,service sector or agriculture.”

He also spoke about the progress on other schemes being run by his government.

Narendra Modiji also invited people to provide feedback through the ‘Narendra Modi app’. The farmers can reach out to the Prime Minister directly to address their grievances, unemployment can be addressed through this app.

ATTRACTIONS OF JANUARY 16, 2016 DURING THE EVENT

The event is aimed at celebrating the entrepreneurship spirit of country’s youth . CEO’s and founders of top start-ups will attend the programme. Union Minister, Arun Jaitley will inaugurate the event in Vigyan Bhawan .The minister of State for Commerce and Industry , Nirmala Sitharaman will be the Guest of Honour. Following events will take place:

  1. Discussion on “Show me the money: how do we capitalize entrepreneurship?”
  2. A unique question and answer session titled “ Face to face with policy makers”
  • Interactive talks with global leaders and venture capitalists such as Masayschi Sen, Travis Kalanick and Adam Nuemann.

GOOGLE LAUNCHPAD AT START UP INDIA, STAND UP INDIA

The start up India, stand up India initiative aims to celebrate spirit of entrepreneurship among young minds who wish to use technology in various fields. At the event on January 16, 5 start ups will be catching in their solutions as a part of Google’s launch pad.

The winner’ll be awarded with Google Cloud Credits of $100,000 into the winning start-ups accounts.

WHAT ENTREPRENUERSHIP WANT FROM START UP INDIA, STAND UP INDIA?

A survey was conducted to get responses and feedbacks from the entrepreneurship about this new plan of Start up India, Stand up India. Certain concerns of the entrepreneurs lead to the following conclusions:

  1. To make regulatory compliance norms easier.
  2. Relaxation of existing tax laws.
  3. Access to guidance from industry leaders.
  4. Bridging the gap between academics and training for setting up an enterprise.
  5. Exposure to colleges outside the IIT/IIM network.
